On the horrifying day of March 24, Germanwings
Flight 9525 crashed into Alpine mountains. This disastrous crash killed all,
150, people on board the aircraft. After the plane's blackbox and the
audio of the plane were recovered, suspicion of the co-pilot raised. As soon as
investigators searched his house for clues, they found a letter from a doctors
stating, "unfit to work". With this letter being discovered, Lubitz
past life was illuminated. As a child, many of his mentors and friends saw Lubitz
as a vibrant, excited child. Growing up, Lubitz followed his dream to become a
pilot. During school, peers and colleagues still considered Lubitz "just a
normal boy". His training to become a pilot continued, until interrupted
by a self-inflicted interruption in 2008. This "interruption",
although originally private, has been said to be caused by a "serious
depressive episode". His training was soon back on track, and sign of any
illness was not noticed by the airline. Moments before the crash
had occurred, audio of Lubitz revealed banging on the cockpit door from
the pilot, after leaving for a short period of time. As the plane continued to
descend, the only noise was Lubitz's steady breathing. Investigation of
the horrific scene is still taking place, although difficult because of
the terrain. This story will keep unraveling as
the investigators uncover more crucial clues.
As more clues are uncovered the controversy of "was it intentional
or not" or "why he did it" , will fade. After reading the audio
of the aircraft seconds before the crash, the words do not bring to justice
the horrifying knocks and screams of the pilot and the passengers.
These screams and the shrapnel of the plane could of been prevented with
safety precautions inside the plane. The new recommendation to have
two people in the cockpit at all times, could have prevented this terrific
scene. Frequent background checks should be set in place to insure the
mental healthiness of all crew members. To pass one
health screening in beginning years of a position does not insure the
future mental stableness of anyone. This change of mental health, is prevalent
in this case. As well as other precautions, when the trainee suspends his
training with no explanation. Increased attention on the trainee should
had been in placed. The sad stories of the families has made the crash even
more tragic. To improve future safety, all these precautions and more need
to be placed, especially in jobs dealing with the lives of other people.
If all precautions fail, the cockpit should be secure
against attempts descend an aircraft unexepectedly. Despite the fact
of the cause, the families of the victims need to be prayed for.
